Teachers and staff at Bethel Elementary believe in celebrating successes every chance they get! So when students knocked the top off their personal reading goals for the second nine weeks, they were rewarded from the principal herself! In an effort to increase reading volume at Bethel, which is the number one determining factor in reading success, students are challenged to read a certain amount of books on their reading level each nine weeks and for the whole year. As they meet their nine weeks’ goals and strive to tackle that end of year goal, their teachers are right there to cheer them on with encouragement and prizes! One thing that makes this success so special is that it’s attainable for every student because they are challenged to read texts on their individual level and are not competing with anyone but themselves really. Bethel’s motto is Caring Promotes Student Success, and it shows every day!
