New Information March 24, 2020

As I’m sure you know Governor Cooper has mandated that all NC schools remain closed through May 15. This means that we need to distribute another two week’s work to Kindergarten and 1st grade students and we’re going to transition 2nd grade to an online platform for learning (like 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade are already using). The online platform is designed so the teacher can have virtual contact with the students as well as provide feedback on what is correct and incorrect and help them figure it out. None of what we’re doing, whether it is paper/pencil or the online learning, is designed to create more stress for students and parents. We are reaching out daily in some way (phone, text, email, Google classroom, etc.) to students and parents in an effort to help. Each teacher is working regular hours but also has “office hours” set aside, during the school day and in the evening, in which she is 100% dedicated to communicating with students and parents.  We are on your side!! The students are the heart of why we are educators just like they are your heart as parents. If there is too much work, call us! If something doesn’t make sense, call us! We are here to help:)

Now…for work pick up information. All K-1 students will have work to pick up. All second grade students will need to pick up a packet. Chromebooks will also need to be checked out by 2nd graders who have internet access at home on which to do their online learning. 4th and 5th graders will only have work to pick up if they don’t have internet access at home.

Pick up will be this Friday, March 27, on this schedule:

Last name A-H: 9:00-9:30 am

Last name I-P: 9:30-10:00 am

Last name Q-Z: 10:00-10:30 am

If you can’t come during these times just come when you can, ring the doorbell, and we’ll bring you what you need.

At this time we will not be collecting completed work packets. Please keep all completed student work and /or books that belong to BES in a central location at your home. Collection of these materials will be communicated at a later date.
