We are so excited that we’ve been able to have “in person” parent night events this spring. Thank you so much for wearing your masks without complaint and for being such positive examples for your children. Each grade level has chosen the academic topic for their own parent night.
4th grade had the lady bring her animals from the Balsam Mountain Preserve and then did some language arts activities with their parents.
The first grade teachers modeled a Readers’ Theater version of The Three Billy Goats Gruff and talked about the importance of reading fluency. Parents were given materials and instructions as to how to help their children increase their rate of reading.
Our third grade team led the students and parents in building seed sprout houses as a part of their science curriculum. The families took home writing/recording sheets so they could record the growth of their sprout houses at home.
5th grade students and parents did science experiments and the kids helped teach their parents about force and motion, heat transfer, mass and matter, and the components of blood.
Kindergarten and 2nd grade have upcoming parent nights scheduled in the next few weeks.
Thank you to all the parents and students who attended and to the teachers for working so hard to plan these events.
