The school board approved a mask mandate beginning on Monday, August 23, 2021. All students will be required to wear masks. When the Covid numbers in Haywood County go down, the mask “rule” will return to optional, but for right now masks are mandatory for all staff, students, and others who enter the school building.
I know that folks have different feelings about school being in session starting on Monday. If your child is not ready to come back to school or if it is simply physically impossible to get them to school due the flood, please just give us a call and let us know. Please read Dr. Nolte’s press release on the Haywood County Schools website. To quote him, “We want you to know that school is ready for you when you are ready for school. We want to help, if you haven’t already done so, please reach out to your school. Let them know about your situation. They can help you get access to some things that might be helpful.”
Monday, August 23, is a 2 Hour Delay. However, Kinder Camp will still begin at 8:30. This past Friday, kindergarten teachers attempted to contact all parents of students who haven’t been to Kinder Camp yet to discuss whether the child could come this Monday or Tuesday.
