SCHOOL SEEMS (ALMOST) NORMAL…

These first few weeks of school have been very hectic and we’ve had a lot going on, but as far as procedures and protocols go it’s been eerily normal. It has been wonderful that we’ve already been blessed with two school wide activities with Steve the Science Guy and then Carmello Baker, our visiting author. That kind of thing was not allowed last school year due to Covid protocols, but we’ve learned how to more safely schedule and navigate those types of things since then. Our students have already started going on field trips and there are more scheduled in October, so things are slowly but surely beginning to feel like “regular” school again. With that being said, we’re still having lots of students out under quarantines. In those cases, please be in contact with your child’s teacher as well as Amber Golden, our school nurse. This is so we can make sure we’re coding absences correctly and getting make up work ready for someone to pick up so your student doesn’t get behind.

PICTURE DAY
Fall picture day is next Thursday, October 7. The information regarding picture packages, pricing, and ordering either came home with your child today or will come home tomorrow.

HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE INFORMATION

A blue (front and back) flyer has been sent home in every student’s backpack this week regarding holiday assistance. That document has a lot of really good information so please make sure you read it. The online application can be found at this link:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeEbtudfmEUuupaaBwf1kqD6bo-gHgoEbWZ0gdlAJKGwSXQNw/viewform

OCTOBER CALENDAR INFO

Monday, October 18 is a Teacher Workday and Tuesday, October 19 is a Remote Learning Workday. What that means is that your child will not come to school on those two days. They will bring home work (either paper/pencil or a device with work online) on Friday, October 15. The work will need to be done sometime between the time they leave school on Friday, October 15 and Tuesday, October 19. The work will be turned in on Wednesday, October 20 when they return to school. If the work is turned in, they will be counted present on Tuesday, October 19. If the work is not turned in, they will be counted absent on Tuesday, October 19.A certain number of these remote days are required by law to be included in all NC public schools.

LOCKDOWN DRILL

We will have two lockdown drills this school year; one in the fall and one in the spring. Our fall lockdown drill will be in mid October. Just FYI in case your child comes home talking about it.
