Updates Regarding Covid

With masks now being optional for students and staff, some other Covid protocols have also changed.

Basically, we are treating Covid symptoms like any other illness. If the child is sick, he/she stays home until they are no longer sick. If there is a fever or vomiting, he/she should be free of that for 24 hours without medicine before returning to school. A student no longer has to stay at home just because someone else (sibling, parent, etc.) in the house is having symptoms.

If a student tests positive for Covid, please let the teacher or a principal know. The school nurse is no longer the person who discusses quarantine times with the parents; that is now either Mrs. Hollingsworth or Mrs. Watson. The role of the school nurse is back to what it was pre-Covid, seeing sick or injured kids at school and assessing to see if they need to go home. Nurse Amber will still work with our administrators and help with Covid issues but the decisions and follow through will come from school administration.

When a student has Covid, he/she will still be required to quarantine either 10 days from onset of symptoms or do the 5+5 quarantine. With the 5+5, a mask is required on days 6-10 at school. Bottom line is: communication with folks at school is vitally important.

Masks are still required on buses.

Virtual Math Family Night(s)

We will be having virtual math nights for families. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet with teachers and learn how to help their students with math concepts.

Grades 2, 4, and 5 will be on Monday, 2/21 from 6-7 pm

3rd grade will be on Monday, 2/21 from 6:30-7:30 pm

1st grade will be on Thursday, 2/24 from 5:30-6:30 pm

Kindergarten will be on Thursday, March 3 from 6-7 pm

If you cannot attend or you have students in two grades and have to choose to only attend one, the teachers will be recording the sessions so you can watch with your student at a later time. Please be in communication with your child’s teacher for the links to the google meets as well as to request a recording for later viewing.

No PB&J after this Friday

Due to supply chain issues, PB&J will no longer be an option for lunch after this Friday, 2/18.

Also, on 2/24 the hot lunch choice will be a corndog instead of veggie soup.

T-shirt sales

Our student council is taking orders for Bethel Strong t-shirts. Orders and money are due by March 4 and shirts will be delivered by April 4. I’ve attached an order form below.

School Building Opens at 7:15 am

We appreciate that many of you get your students to school early. However, please be aware that the front door will not be unlocked for students to enter until 7:15 am. Please do not drop your students off before 7:15 am. There is no supervision for them before 7:15 am.
