Parent Newsletter June 8, 2022
Summer Office Hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00 am- 4:00 pm
Summer Library Info
Our BES library will be open each Tuesday from 10:00 am-3:00 pm. This will begin on June 14 and end on August 2. That means there are eight opportunities to check out books so the kids can READ, READ, READ, and fight the summer reading slide that happens to so many students who don’t read in the summer months. Mrs. Chinn keeps a list of which students come to the library in the summer and we will have a reward of some sort when school starts for students who attended summer library frequently.
Awards Program Feedback
For our K-4 students, we had grade level awards in the auditorium and parents were invited to join in person or virtually, whichever worked best with their schedules. I need feedback from you about this so we’ll know how to plan at the end of next school year. If you feel strongly one way or the other about this, please email me with your suggestions. If you think it should be all in person or all virtual or continue offering both at the same time, just send me an email letting me know what you prefer and why. We want to make sure that parent voices are heard and that your feedback is taken into consideration when we plan things like that.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Picking Up Report Cards & Other Items
We have several students’ report cards, artwork, end of year treat bags from their teachers, and other items in the office waiting to be picked up. If you come on Thursday, 6/9, to get those things, please come to the bus side of the school because the custodians have started cleaning & waxing the front lobby on the car line side. Remember that the office is closed on Friday and starting next week, you will be able to come back in the main entrance.
Please pick all these items up by Wednesday, June 29. After that we will dispose of everything except the report cards.
ENROLL EARLY!!!
If you know anyone who has recently moved into the Bethel school district and has an elementary aged child or anyone who still needs to enroll their kindergarten child for next school year, please encourage them to come do that NOW! The number of classes (that also means the number of teachers) we have in each grade level depends on the number of students that are enrolled in each grade level. Great teachers are difficult to find and hire anytime these days, but they are almost impossible to find in August. We need to be able to post job openings and hire now, in early-mid June, but we can only do that if we have the students actually enrolled. Please tell people not to wait!
