Meet the Teacher & Beginning of the Year Info
It has been great to see so many of you during our Jumpstart assessment times this week and I know that several of you will be coming next week for Jumpstart as well.
The first official day for teachers and other 10 month staff is Tuesday, August 16. Our annual Meet the Teacher event will be on Wednesday, August 17 between 1:00 and 3:00. Our decision to have it on this day was made because we realize that some families may want to sneak off on Friday for one more long weekend before school starts on Monday, August 22, and teachers have an all day professional development training on Thursday, August 18. So…having said that, the teachers aren’t going to have much time in their classrooms to get them “student ready” by Wednesday at 1:00, so we are asking that you please do not come earlier than 1:00 pm on Wednesday. Thank you in advance for complying with this request. Remember that Kindergarten students do not come to Meet the Teacher because they will not have a teacher assignment yet.
The first day of school for 1st-5th graders is Monday, August 22 and that day is a 12:30 dismissal day. Kindergarten parents, please refer to the calendar in your information packet for information regarding the beginning of the year for you and your children.
Free Breakfast & Lunch for All at BES
All BES students receiving free breakfast and lunch this school year. We are considered a CEP school. Google that or see the actual parent newsletter for more info.
After School Program Application
We have after school applications available in the office. Remember that we are a state monitored program so your student cannot stay in the program unless the paperwork is filled out completely and we have it on file.
Last But Not Least…Flood Relief
I’m doing some digging to get in touch with someone in Kentucky so we can offer help to the folks who have recently suffered the devastating flood. We were so blessed by others last year when we were hurting and now it’s our turn to pay if forward and help others. More information about that will be coming soon so stay tuned.
