Parent Newsletter December 2, 2022

Pactiv Evergreen sponsors our canned food drive each year. Each classroom will enter their number of cans each day so we can announce who is in the lead…this is always a fun way to compete with each other for a common good. Students need to take their cans to class each day to be counted and NOT just drop them off at the table. If the student is bringing several cans in, they can drop them off at the table but a parent will need to either write a note for the teacher with the number of cans or send the teacher a Remind message letting her know that you have placed “x” number of cans on the table in the lobby. Monday, December 12 will be the final day to bring canned/boxed food items. The winning class in K-2 and the winning class in 3-5 will each receive a pizza party. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

We have created themes for each day of school in December, beginning this coming Monday, 12/5. Great effort was made to try to make these theme days simple and NOT something parents would feel they need to go out and buy clothes for. This is 100% optional and there is no reward for participating; just an opportunity to have fun.

I’ve attached a calendar, but here is also a written break down of our Fun & Festive days:

Monday, 12/5: Christmas Time’s a Comin’ (Wear holiday apparel)

Tuesday, 12/6: Don We Now Our Plaid Apparel (Wear plaid)

Wednesday, 12/7: Hunting Season in the South (Wear camouflage)

Thursday, 12/8: Candy Cane Lane (Wear red and white)

Friday, 12/9: Frosty the Snowman (Wear white or something with snowflakes)

Monday, 12/12: Baby It’s Cold Outside (Wear scarf, hat, cozy sweater/sweatshirt, etc.)

Tuesday, 12/13: Festive Feet (Wear holiday socks)

Wednesday, 12/14: He’s a Mean One, Mr. Grinch (Wear green or something “Grinchy”)

Thursday, 12/15: Winter Workout (Wear workout/athletic apparel)

Friday, 12/16: Tacky or Classy? (Wear your favorite holiday sweater/sweatshirt)

Monday, 12/19: O Christmas Tree (Wear green and/or dress like a Christmas tree)

Tuesday, 12/20: Jam Out in Your Jammies (Wear pajamas)

Wednesday, 12/21: Winter is Here/1st Day of Winter (Wear something cozy and warm)

Thursday, 12/22: Tree Topper (Wear favorite hat, headband, or headwear) *We will also be collecting donations on this day-suggested $1 per kid-for Kidz in Lidz which is to support Children’s Cancer Center of the Carolinas-this is not required for a student to wear a hat*

Friday, 12/22 (12:30 dismissal): Dress Your Best (Wear dressy clothes and be festive and fancy)

We had a great turnout of Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade parents and family at our Thanksgiving lunch. Now it is the 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade parents and family members’ turn to come share lunch with your students on Thursday, 12/22. A letter will be coming home early next week with details so be looking for it in the backpack. The lunch times for these grade levels are as follows:

1st grade at 11:30 am

3rd grade at 10:30 am

5th grade at 12:30 pm

We will be selling chances to win a Bethel Bypass parking spot for 2nd semester on this day. Those tickets are also on sale in the office every day between now and the last day of school in 2022.
