Still a month of summer break left!
All these “Back to School” promos and sales need to take a break and look at the calendar…the first actual day of school for students is Monday, August 22 and that is still a month away. However, if you are interested in going school supply shopping, the lists are on the BES website. They are in a post as well as under the “Parents” tab at the top of the page.
Jumpstart Program information
Our teachers and students are being offered the opportunity to meet before the first day of school to do some “before school starts assessment” type activities. Having current data will help us be more ready to hit the ground running with reading and math groups when the 1st day of school rolls around.
Teachers have begun reaching out to parents to schedule these sessions, but don’t get worried or upset if you haven’t gotten a call yet. Several teachers are on vacation and haven’t started making calls yet. All of the Jumpstart sessions have to be between August 1 and August 12. We have a few teachers who aren’t going to be able to meet with their students during that timeframe, so the other teachers in that grade level will be meeting with those students. Every student will be invited to attend. The Jumpstart program is optional and we are not able to provide transportation, but we encourage participation if there is any possible way to get the students here.
Having said all that, we really need to be able to get in touch with you. So…please clean out your voicemail box and/or call and let us know if your phone number has changed. Remember that the office is open Monday-Thursday from 8-4. Feel free to call if you have questions or information to share.
Parent Meeting Opportunity for ALL Parents
There is a Parent Advisory Council and Parent School Improvement Team representative meeting scheduled for next Thursday, July 28, at 10:00 am here at school. I am opening this meeting up to any parent who is available and would like to come. Parents are the absolute most important teachers their children will ever have and your input, feedback, and suggestions are vitally important to the success of our school. Attending this meeting does not mean you have to become a member of one of the parent groups, but you might enjoy it so much that you want to join. Maybe…hopefully…
I request that you either email me or call and let me know you’re planning to come so I can have enough handouts and that our room is the right size for the group who will be meeting.
Meet the Teacher
The School Improvement Team makes decisions about events like “Meet the Teacher” and that team’s summer meeting is scheduled for August 1. As soon as they’ve made a decision about a back to school event, I’ll put it out via newsletter, website, phone call, and Facebook.
ENROLL!!!!!
If you have a neighbor, friend, family member, or know someone who has recently moved into our district and has a school aged child, please encourage them to enroll their child in school now. Please don’t wait until school starts to enroll. Thanks in advance!
