BeanStack is an online reading log purchased for all BES students.
Our school has paid for a subscription to BeanStack this year. BeanStack is a web and mobile app platform that schools use to track reading and run interactive reading challenges. Your child will primarily use it as an online reading tracker and timer, if your family chooses to use it from home. It is optional to add the free mobile app to a personal device.
Follow the steps below to log into your child’s account with the app::
- Search your app store/play store for the “BeanStack tracker” app
- Upon installing and opening the app, tap “Find your school or library” and enter your organization’s name (Bethel Elementary School) in the search box.
- Find and tap the accurate organization name– Bethel Elementary (NC) – to be taken to our sign-in page.
- Tap “Sign In with Clever”
- Select “GOOGLE”
- Use your student’s school login which is their Username@student.haywood.k12.nc.us
- Password is the 4 digit number they use to log in to their chromebook.
Using the App:
- The MENU is at the bottom of the app:
- Home=displays reading streaks, challenges, recent titles student has read, Stats & Badges
- Log=displays a calendar of reading already logged by the student
- The Plus button=this is how you make an entry on your reading log. Select READING
- Reading=you may type in the book title manually or scan the ISBN barcode on the back of the book to log the title of a book you are currently reading.Follow the prompts to log completed minutes or begin the timer.
All Beanstack sites collect first name, last name, password, and age, and then specify additional required or optional account and reader information on a case-by-case basis. Information is not shared or made public outside the School.
Note: You can choose to purchase ”Beanstack Go” individual accounts, but these cannot be linked to any school or library system. If your school uses Beanstack, make sure to select “Find your school or library” and follow the first set of instructions above.
How BeanStack Works to motivate students to read: https://canva.link/beanstack-school-flyer
- Reading Logs: Readers or parents can easily log minutes read, pages, or completed books.
- Gamification: The app motivates users with digital badges, reading streaks, and virtual rewards instead of strict testing or quizzes
- Community Goals: Libraries, classrooms and schools can set group goals, host friendly competitions, and offer real incentives or physical prizes.
- Free Access: Users connect to their school account for free, allowing them to participate in fun challenges, a reading log, reading timer, leaderboards, book talks with Benny and more.
- Ask your child about it! They have already learned a lot about it–including the Reading Challenges and chances to win physical prizes!
