Bethel Elementary is nestled in a beautiful valley between Mount Pisgah and Cold Mountain in the Bethel Community of Haywood County, NC. We are a K-5 school serving 500+ students.
Bethel Elementary originally opened in 1954. Bethel prides itself on strong community support and following traditions. When it was time to lay the foundation of our new facility in 2006, students carefully selected a special rock that they placed one by one in the foundation.
Like the scenery that surrounds it, the new Bethel Elementary School is truly stunning. Classrooms look out onto tree-covered mountains and peaceful pastures with grazing animals. The school was built using low impact or “green” development techniques. The campus includes an auditorium, full size gym, regulation size track, softball and baseball fields. The spacious two story library looks out toward Cold Mountain. The campus is surrounded with rain gardens that collect rainwater which is converted into geothermal energy and used to heat and cool the school. Bethel Elementary School is a green campus providing a healthy environment and learning opportunities for students.
